So the original Commando came out in 1985 and was one of the quintessential action movies of the 1980s. It really had it all, great action, great muscles and great 1-liners. Arnold Schwarzenegger agreed to do the movie because he wanted to play more of a normal person. Which, I don’t think most people consider John Matrix in Commando to be a “normal person”; but at the very least, Matrix was a lot more normal than a Barbarian or a Robot, which Arnold portrayed prior to Commando; you don’t see either of those characters eating ice cream for example.
